How Long Will My Driver’s License Be Suspended if I Am Convicted of Evading Responsibility (Also Known as Evasion of Responsibility) In Violation of Connecticut General Statute 14-224?
If you are convicted of evading responsibility in Connecticut Superior Court, part of your penalty would also include a suspension of your driver’s license, with the length of the suspension determined by which subsection of the evading statute you are convicted of violating. (Note: you won’t find any information about license suspension in the evading statute. For that, you have to look at Connecticut General Statute 14-111, Suspension or revocation of registration, license, or right to operate.)
If you’re convicted of violating 14-224 (a) (evading responsibility where the CT accident results in death), your license would be suspended for one year.
If you’re convicted of violating 14-224 (b) (1) (evading responsibility where the CT accident results in serious physical injury), your license would be suspended for one year.
If you’re convicted of violating 14-224 (b) (2) (evading responsibility where the CT accident results in physical injury), your license would be suspended for 90 days.
If you’re convicted of violating 14-224 (b) (3) (evading responsibility where the CT accident results in injury or damage to property), your license would be suspended for 90 days.
If you’re convicted of violating 14-224 (c) (racing or promoting racing on CT roads), your license would be suspended for not less than 30 days nor more than 90 days.
The suspension periods listed above are for a first conviction. If you’re convicted of evasion of responsibility in Connecticut a second time, the second license suspension would be longer.
